Shohreh Aghdashloo (May 11th, 1952, Teheran, Iran )
Shohreh Aghdashloo is one of the most gifted and abundantly talented actresses around.
She started her acting career with Theater Workshops in Iran where she performed in numerous plays.
Aghdashloo started her stage work with the Drama Workshop of Tehran. The workshop was to be a vehicle for a new genre of theatre.
It was created by a group of young professionals, intellectuals and playwrights among whom were Bijan Saffaree and Abbas Na'lbandian.
Shohreh Aghdashloo's debut was in a family drama, Gozaresh (The Report) by the world renowned director, Abbas Kiarostami whose later films such as Through the Olive Tree and Taste of Cherry has captivated critics and audiences worldwide.
Aghdashloo then appeared in Sootah Delaan (heart-brokens) by the legendary Iranian Writer/Director, Ali Hatami whose memorable Period Piece movies such as Soltan-e Saheb Gheran and Hezar Dastaan contributed significantly to raising the awareness of Iranians about the past hundred years of their history.
In Sootah Delaan, in the role of a hired prostitute, Shohreh Aghdashloo, falls in love with a retarded man, played gracefully by the famed Behrooz Vosooghi.
After emigrating to Britain, Aghdashloo took up acting in theater. In the United States she has appeared in many plays with her husband, Hooshang Toozie whose Sweet Smell of Love (Booyeh Khosh-e Eshgh) became an instant hit.
This touching play about immigrants family life, single-handedly influenced the attitude of the Iranian community towards theater. To date almost a hundred thousand people have seen this play in more than 30 countires across the world.
The sequel to Sweet Smell of Love, Our Share of the Father's House continued the love audiences have developed for plays written and performed by the couple, Hooshang Toozie and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
