Taraneh Alidoosti, who starred in the Oscar-winning film "The Salesman", has been released after almost three weeks in prison.
On November 9, Taraneh Alidoosti posted a photo on her Instagram in which she posed without a scarf. In front of her she held a paper with the words "Woman, Life, Freedom".
The 38-year-old Iranian actor Taraneh Alidoosti, who was imprisoned almost three weeks ago, has been released on bail on Wednesday. This is stated by the actor's lawyer to the Iranian news agency Isna.
- My client was released on bail today, says lawyer Zahra Minooee.
Alidoosti was jailed on December 17 after supporting the ongoing protest movement in Iran. She was accused of "publishing false and distorted content and inciting mayhem".
As an actor, Alidoosti is probably best known for her leading role in the 2016 film The Salesman. The film, directed by Iranian Asghar Farhadi, won an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

The extensive demonstrations in Iran have been going on since September 16, when the 22-year-old woman #MahsaAmini died in the custody of the morality police.
Before her arrest, Alidoosti made several posts on social media supporting the protests. Among other things, she wrote on Instagram on December 8. It was the day Iranian authorities executed 23-year-old #MohsenShekari. It was the first execution of a protester during the #Iranprotests.
- Your silence means support for oppression and support for those who oppress, she wrote over a picture on Instagram.
- All international organizations that look at this carnage and do not act bring shame on humanity, said Alidoosti.
#MahsaAmini, who died on September 16, had been arrested because authorities said her hijab did not cover her hair well enough. The moral police are accused by many of having caused such great damage resulting to her death.
- Don't forget what Iran's women are going through.
Later - on November 9 - she posted a photo of herself without a headscarf, holding a piece of paper with the words "Woman, Life, Freedom", the common slogan during the protests.
The demonstrations in Iran are some of the largest against the country's clerical rule since it took power after the Iranian revolution in 1979.
