Ali Kasmaie (September 24, 1915 - June 26, 2012)
Ali Kasmaie (born on September 24, 1915 in Tehran) was an Iranian dubbing manager, director, screenwriter and journalist. He is called the father of Iranian dubbing.
Ali Kasmaie was born in Tehran. His parents and ancestors were Gilak and from the village of Kasmai, in Gilan province. He spent his early years of life and elementary school with his family in Gilan and Mazandaran provinces.
After completing his high school education in Gilan province, he went to Tehran and received a bachelor's degree in law from Tehran University.
Since 1946, he has been working as a writer and translator in various newspapers and has been the editor of prestigious newspapers such as Information, Mehriran, Alame Honar, etc. In addition, since the 1940s, he succeeded in obtaining a lawyer's license, and his license is now kept in the exhibition section of the Iran Central Bar Association.
Kasmaie entered the professional cinema in 1950 by writing the screenplay of Ashamed (Sharmsar) (directed by Esmail Kushan). In addition to writing, he has also worked in other branches of cinema such as directing and acting. But the main reason for Kasmaie's fame is his expertise in dubbing and dubbing management.
Since 1955, he turned to the profession of dubbing as a dubbing manager, and for many years he was engaged in the development of the dubbing technique and the training of young and talented announcers.
Kasmaie is known for being a master of many famous Iranian dubbing artists. He was known as the father of Iranian dubbing due to his long history, brilliant records and experiences in the field. Mahin Kasmaie, one of the other Iranian voice actors, is his nephew. Ali Kasmai was known as Uncle Doubleur.
Kasmaie died in Tehran on June 26, 2012 after enduring a long period of illness.
